Hasan Gets Promoted, McCabe Gets the Shaft
Political Correctness item by Jayme Evans (3/11/10)

The primary job of the US military is to bring as much force to bear as is necessary to implement the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States. We recruit, motivate, train, pay, equip order and expect those brave enough to answer their country’s call to go anywhere around the world at a moments notice to kill or capture those who stand in the way of achieving those objectives. The least we, as a nation can do to support them in their mission is to refrain from second-guessing their every battlefield decision. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what America’s future politicians, the armchair quarterbacks of the JAG Corps, are doing to yet another of America’s bravest, most dedicated warriors.

You can lead healthcare providers to reforms, but you can’t make them think
Health Care item by John David Powell (3/11/10)

All of the politics, posturing, and punditry in Washington surrounding sweeping healthcare reform fail to consider one sad, yet important, fact:  you can’t legislate common sense and customer service.  Give away health care, hand out free prescription medication, provide total access to every living human being on the planet, and you’ll still have people and processes that fail to do the jobs for which they’re paid or for which they’re designed.

Evolutionists: An Embarrassment to Real Scientists!
Science item by Don Boys (3/11/10)

Hey, it’s getting embarrassing! Another “missing link” is still missing after a few months exposure to science and common sense. I am referring to Ida, revealed last spring by Norwegian paleontologist Jorn Hurum and his colleagues who assured us Ida was “an unusually complete prehistoric primate fossil.” The dog and pony show that followed in May of 2009 on “ABC News,” “Good Morning America,” “Nightline,” “A & E,” “The New York Times,” etc., portrayed Ida “as a blockbuster discovery nothing short of an “eighth wonder of the world” that would offer a look at one of mankind’s earliest evolutionary ancestors. Afraid not.

Today’s Revolutionary Aristocracy
Progressivism item by Thomas Brewton (3/11/10)

Liberal-progressives are a self-annointed aristocracy that presumes the right to impose its will upon our nation.

Losing Jobs with Green technology
GreeenIsm item by Dennis T. Avery (3/11/10)

CHURCHVILLE, VA - President Obama has allocated $4 billion in “stimulus funds” to help advance the “smart grid,” which is intended to seamlessly integrate all our new solar and wind power into the national supply of electricity. Much of the $4 billion will be spent to install 20 million new digital “smart meters.” These meters will instantly tell the power company how to deploy its varied generating sources most effectively.

Virginia Decommissions the “Arts”
Bird-Brain Flu item by Michael R. Shannon (3/11/10)

The Lord God Almighty grants eternal life in the hereafter, but on earth it’s politicians who control immortality. So when the Virginia House of Delegates passes a budget that executes the Commission for the Arts, it’s big news.

Illinois Dangerous ‘Presumed Consent’ Organ Donor Bill
Big Brother item by Warner Todd Huston (3/11/10)

Illinois State Senator Dale Risinger(1) (R, Peoria) has offered a bill in Springfield that drives our society further along the path of making parts of the human body a commodity, undercutting the sacred status of human life.

The American System Is Not a Democracy
The Republic item by Leonard Peikoff (3/11/10)

WASHINGTON--Today(March 5, 2010) marks the 66th anniversary of the German Nazi party’s rise to power--not through a bloody coup, but a democratic vote. It achieved 44 percent of the vote, enabling it to join with the Nationalist Party and achieve a parliamentary majority. No one would accept that a democratic vote justifies Nazi atrocities, yet today many people believe that the U.S. government is entitled to do anything the majority pleases, regardless of whose rights are violated--from forcing individuals to buy health insurance to stripping unpopular financiers of their bonuses to banning incandescent light bulbs.

‘Panic on Wall Street?’
Economics item by Don Boys (3/7/10)

One of the oldest French banks, Societe Generale, tells clients how to prepare for potential global collapse within the next two years according to a headline in London’s Telegraph, Dec. 2, 2009! That was a “global” collapse! And some of my friends suggest that I am an extremist! Yes, I have said that panic (an out-of-control response to economic collapse) was coming to the U.S. and the world economy not because I am a prophet but because I can connect the dots. Moreover, I expect the panic to reach Main Street where chaos will reign.

Women Need to Speak Out on Feminism and the Hateful Ideology it Represents
Femi-Nazis item by Carey Roberts (3/7/10)

March is Women’s History Month. Time to prepare ourselves for the annual Sista-fest of narcissistic victim-mongering, gleeful male-bashing, and shameless prevarication.

A College Degree Is Not A Human Right!
  EdukShun item by J. D. Longstreet (3/7/10)

Whether you want to admit it or not, there are some people who have absolutely no business going to college.

‘Panic on Main Street?’
Economics item by Don Boys (3/7/10)

U.S debt is massive, now well over $12 trillion; that is $40,000 plus for every person in America!  It is not unthinkable or unprecedented although unlikely that the government could default and repudiate all debts including Social Security obligations, Medicare coverage, and military pensions along with all foreign debts. If that happened, millions of over-fifty people would storm the White House and Congress producing anarchy and maybe a Second American Revolution. Emulating the Reign of Terror in France in the 1790s, they might bring back the guillotine for procrastinating, privileged, and prevaricating politicians. Remember that the bloody French Revolution was precipitated by a looming bankruptcy as the politicians spent far more than their income. “But that could never happen here,” says the naive one. Of course not!

Pelosi Backwards On “Tea Parties” and GOP
Demercrats item by Christopher G. Adamo (3/7/10)

Democrats continue to bounce between occasional brief attempts at pandering to grassroots America, and their more innate reversion to unrestrained contempt for the beliefs and sentiments of the heartland. In the process, they reveal a willingness to resort to any concocted lie in hopes of fooling enough of the people, enough of the time, to advance their insidious agenda.

Every Night is Hockey Night in Canada
Sports item by Aaron Goldstein (3/7/10)

Later this month I will have lived in the United States for ten years.  Although my affection for the United States grows with each passing year I will always be a Canadian at heart.  I was born, raised and lived in Canada for more than a quarter century.

Crisis in Turkey
Middle East item by Daniel Pipes (3/7/10)

The arrest and indictment of top military figures in Turkey last week precipitated potentially the most severe crisis since Atatürk founded the republic in 1923. The weeks ahead will probably indicate whether the country continues its slide toward Islamism or reverts to its traditional secularism. The denouement has major implications for Muslims everywhere.

Eminent Domain as Central Planning
Big Brother item by OffSite (2/28/10)

Wielding creative definitions of blight, New York runs roughshod over property rights and uproots viable neighborhoods - Free markets are out of vogue. The unfortunate lesson that policymakers have learned over the past two years is that a big, brainy government that supposedly creates jobs is superior to irrational, faceless markets that just create catastrophic errors.

Pravda laughs at America
Bird-Brain Flu item by OffSite (2/28/10)

With Internet communication instantly available around the world, it is easy for any publication on distant continents to know exactly what is happening in the United States and to comment on these events just as quickly. One of these publications is Pravda, the Russian equivalent of the New York Times or the Washington Post.

Fiscal Responsibility Lasted Two Weeks In Senate
Senate item by Warner Todd Huston (2/28/10)

Two weeks ago the U.S. Senate passed new rules that would require new spending to be offset somewhere else in the budget, the so-called paygo rule. They did this because Democrats and Obama got tired of being called big spending socialists and wanted the veneer of fiscal responsibility with which to cloak themselves. It lasted two weeks before the Senate broke its own new Obama-sponsored rule(1) and went headlong for just another big spending program with its supposed jobs bill.

Church Newscast Debut
Information item by Austin Miles (2/28/10)

Oakley, California (2/26/10) Mountain View Christian Center in Oakley, California publishes, America’s Good News (AGN), a Christian newspaper that is distributed in Northern California as well as online. AGN partnered with The Connecting Link (TCL) News Service to form a newswire that has broken some major stories that have been published throughout the world as well as publishing reviews of books, films, concerts and art shows.

‘I love money, how about you?’
Capitalism item by Leon A. Weinstein (2/28/10)

I always thought that to have a lot of money is good. When I was a child growing up in the Soviet Union we were told that having a lot of money is not necessary, even stupid. We were told that one person can’t wear two dresses at the same time. We were told that even the most super rich can’t set on two chairs at the same time. It all didn’t hold water for me. I always suspected and now know for sure that there is a huge difference between having money and not having it. Otherwise why would most people on the planet prefer to be rich. They do not care what color the money is, whose portrait is on it or what language is used to say “money”. That means that people like money not for the beauty. They love money for the might.

‘Reid-Gate:  Where Did Harry Go Wrong?’
Domestic Violence item by Gordon E. Finley (2/28/10)

As Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid unquestionably is one of the nation’s most powerful political figures.  So, as Majority Leader, how could he be so wrong on Domestic Violence?

Gordon Lightfoot is Alive and Well and Has a Clean Set of Teeth
Entertainment item by Aaron Goldstein (2/28/10)

Last Wednesday evening, during a break at poetry night at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I took a walk around the block to clear my head.  While doing this I was listening to “Summer Side of Life” by Gordon Lightfoot.  As I was listening to the song I thought to myself that Lightfoot could die any day.

Another Failing Biofuel Miracle
Bird-Brain Flu item by Dennis T. Avery (2/22/10)

CHURCHVILLE, VA - My wife is complaining about our increased costs at the supermarket. I remind her that every pound of meat, milk, and butter we buy requires several pounds of corn to produce - and biofuel mandates have shoved the corn price up from about $ 2 per bushel to $3.60. Many hog producers, dairymen, and egg farms have gone bust due to the inevitably higher cost of feed for livestock.
