‘Could She Keep Her $2 Gas Promise?’
General item by
Dennis T. Avery
(9/20/11)
CHURCHVILLE, VA - Michelle Bachmann recently promised that, if elected President, she would get gasoline prices back down to $2 per gallon, She reminded us that gas was $1.79 when President Obama took office.
No Number Of Broken Windows Can Save Us
Economics item by
J. J. Jackson
(9/20/11)
I know it was predictable. But it is still pathetic. In the wake of Hurricane Irene ripping up the East Coast, although much, much weaker than was predicted, there are people salivating about how the billions in damage may provide a spark for the sluggish U.S. economy. I really wish I knew how many more times we have to suffer through this sort of tripe from people who obviously have never bothered to learn anything of importance except how to pound on keys and produce idiocy.
Ride to the Sound of the Guns
War item by
Robert R. Owens
(9/20/11)
He graduated with the highest number of demerits and at the bottom of his class. He was the poster child for graduating by the skin of your teeth. Yet he also became the youngest Major General in American History and the man General Sheridan believed did more than any other to win the Civil War(1). He was a fighting commander whose standing order in combat was, “Ride to the sound of the guns!” Perhaps it flowed from the fact that while at West Point George Armstrong Custer didn’t study very much, that he had only one strategy, and only one tactic. The strategy was victory, and the tactic was charge.
Our least sustainable energy option
Energy item by
Paul Driessen
(9/20/11)
From a land use, economic, environmental or raw materials perspective, wind is unsustainable - President Obama and a chorus of environmentalists, politicians, corporate executives and bureaucrats are perennially bullish on wind power as the bellwether of our “clean energy economy of the future.”

Idiot Ohio Congressman Bans, Confiscates Devices at Townhall
Information Police item by
Warner Todd Huston
(9/1/11)
I go after the left all the time for opposing free speech and for doing its best to shut down citizens, especially at townhall events. Well here is an example of a Republican doing the same thing. His actions are those I’d instantly condemn were it a left-wing Democrat (but I repeat myself) perpetrating it. And so, I similarly condemn Rep. Steve Chabot (R, OH 1st District) for acting the jackbooted authoritarian at his recent townhall.
Department of Ed Rewrites the Constitution, at the Expense of Men
Femi-Nazis item by
Carey Roberts
(9/1/11)
If college administrators were turning a cold shoulder to rape victims and female students were dropping out like flies, the recent Department of Education sex mandate might begin to make a little more sense.
Spreading ‘Big Oil subsidy’ disinformation
GreeenIsm item by
Paul Driessen
(9/1/11)
Meanwhile real subsidies are driving real businesses, energy and jobs out of America - Every American manufacturing company gets tax deductions that help it create jobs and strengthen our economy – whether it produces newspapers, furniture, cars or fuel. Eliminating those deductions would increase unemployment and further slow our nation’s desperately needed economic recovery.
GE Stabs the US in the Back
National Security item by
Alan Caruba
(9/1/11)
In 1876 Thomas Alva Edison opened a laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey for the purposes of exploring how to produce and distribute electricity. History records that he invented the incandescent electric light bulb there. By 1890, he had established the Edison General Electric Company, now know simply as GE.
No Spark: The Unanswered Questions of the Chevy Volt
GreeenIsm item by
Warner Todd Huston
(9/1/11)
Every time we turn around these days President Obama is touting the idea that the “future” of America lies in green energy and one of those greenie ideas is an Obama favorite: electric cars. Not to let him down, Government Motors has obliged by pushing the Chevy Volt as the car of the future. But thus far the future looks a lot like GM’s present; a whole lot of failure leaving a whole lot of questions.
Climate prostitutes, charlatans and comedians
ClimateGate item by
Paul Driessen
(9/1/11)
Their “research” would be hilarious if it didn’t cost taxpayers and consumers so dearly - Put these guys on Comedy Central. Put ‘em in an asylum ... a mandatory restitution program ... jail perhaps ... or a witness protection program, if they turn state’s evidence on other perpetrators. But keep them away from our money – and our energy, economic, healthcare and education policies.
Global warming fraud: Iconic polar bear on melting ice cap a hoax
ClimateGate item by
OffSite
(9/1/11)
(NaturalNews) Images of periled polar bears sinking into arctic seas because of melting polar ice caps have become an iconic symbol of the devastating consequences of so-called global warming.
Palestine - Jerusalem Challenges The United Nations
Middle East item by
David Singer
(9/1/11)
Jerusalem’s continued existence as an undivided city will remain unaffected by any United Nations (UN) decision recognizing a Palestinian Arab State based on the June 1967 armistice lines.
‘Beware The Mexican Strawberries?’
Federal Budget item by
J. J. Jackson
(9/1/11)
I get into a lot arguments with conservatives over very non-conservative causes they believe in. For some reason there are just some conservatives who do not have a problem with certain unconstitutional acts. And just like liberals do, they all sorts of ways to justify their support for said heinous things. You know, like how Ron Paul finds ways to justify requesting earmarks for his district while simultaneously claiming to be against earmarks.
Younger Veterans Still Have Battles To Fight
Veterans item by
Thomas D. Segel
(9/1/11)
Harlingen, Texas, August 2011: Congressional support for our nation’s veterans and retired military personnel is becoming weaker with almost every election. Fewer and fewer members of Congress can boast records of military service. Where once a large segment of that body proudly ran for public office displaying military credentials, few who now campaign for office can identify themselves as having proudly worn the uniform of our country.
Lucky Accident Slashes Food Poisonings
Food item by
Dennis T. Avery
(9/1/11)
CHURCHVILLE, VA - A new natural food additive, discovered in a laboratory accident, is now ready to slash by half the number of hospitalizations and deaths from food-borne bacterial poisoning across the Western World.

Defense-Less
National Security item by
Alan Caruba
(8/19/11)
As bad as the present financial crisis is, how much worse would it be if the enemies of the United States of America, emboldened by a smaller Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, decided that they could engage in military aggression against their neighbors with impunity? Or worse.
Palestine - Duping The United Nations
Middle East item by
David Singer
(8/19/11)
Dr Ghassan Khatib, the Special Envoy of the unelected and unconstitutional Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, last week addressed the Capital Jewish Forum in the Victorian Parliament House. He was introduced by Mr Izzat Abdulhadi, Palestinian Authority Head of Delegation to Australia.
Welcome to the New Weimar Republic: The Involatile Laws Of Economics
Economics item by
J. J. Jackson
(8/19/11)
Liberals like to think the laws of economics are like the laws of physics. In physics, particles behave differently on the subatomic level than they do in the macroscopic realm. This is because as one gets smaller and smaller, different forces become dominant and take control of how particles interact with one another thus leading to sometimes counterintuitive solutions. This is why there is an entire field of physics, called quantum mechanics, to deal with this special situation.
One man’s museum is another man’s menace
Nanny State item by
Michael R. Shannon
(8/19/11)
When is the last time you saw a McDonalds’ commercial ridiculing fat people? Costco checkers questioning the intelligence of bulk buyers? Or the staff at Ralph Lauren lecturing the clothes–conscious on the contents of their closet?
History Doesn’t Repeat it Rhymes Again
History item by
Robert R. Owens
(8/19/11)
When I was studying to become a Historian I ran afoul of the professors tasked with helping me arrive at my destination. When you study for advanced degrees in History you are required to choose an area of specialization and if you are particularly ambitious you might choose two separate areas. Being an over achiever who has always been blessed with an inquiring mind I choose four and proceeded to complete the necessary class work for all of them. Near the end of my career as a professional History student the professor in charge of the program told me I had to pick one field that would be my over arching area of study.

Our Colossal Ignorance on Global Warming
Global Warming item by
Dennis T. Avery
(8/8/11)
CHURCHVILLE, VA - “It’s not just that man-made emissions don’t control the climate, they don’t even control global CO2 levels.”
American resources – for American jobs, revenue and prosperity
GreeenIsm item by
Paul Driessen
(8/8/11)
A vital part of the solution to our economic and employment crisis is right under our feet - A frequent refrain during budget and debt ceiling debates is that we need revenue enhancement: higher tax rates, reduced deductions, eliminated credits. But doing this, especially amid today’s massively expanding regulations, will kill more jobs and further reduce government revenues.
GOP Leadership Never Took Deficit Reduction Seriously
National Debt item by
Christopher G. Adamo
(8/8/11)
Now that the debt ceiling deal passed in Congress and was quickly signed by Barack Obama, key players from both major parties will no doubt want immediately to change the subject. In an inconvenient epilogue to all of the demagoguery from the left and empty promises from the right, even a cursory examination of the actual measure that was spawned will reveal it to be nothing more than “business as usual” from Washington.
Man-made Global Warming: Convert the Children, Change the World
GreeenIsm item by
Paul A. Ibbetson
(8/8/11)
If you want to create a movement that will encapsulate a nation over time, the majority of your propaganda resources are best allocated toward changing the hearts and minds of the children, not the adults. This tactic is a viciously well-known and time-tested strategy of dictatorships worldwide. During the rise and reign of Adolf Hitler, no other target of Nazi propaganda took higher priority than Germany’s youth. As early as 1937, 97 percent of all teachers belonged to the National Socialist Teachers’ Union and the “created facts” within the textbooks in Nazi schools were a reflection of the mindset that Nazi Germany wished its children to carry into the future.
‘Can The Pirates Right Their Ship?’
Sports item by
Aaron Goldstein
(8/8/11)
When the Pittsburgh Pirates hired Clint Hurdle to be their new manager last November, I felt sorry for him. At the time I wrote, “Hurdle has just accepted the worst job in America. It’s a job even Mike Rowe wouldn’t want.” (1)
