When Hitler set out to conquer the world, it was American blood, treasure, and determination that stopped him. When the Soviet Union set out to subject the world to communism, it was American blood, treasure, and determination that stopped it. If the Muslim extremists’ quest to subject the world to radical Islam is to be stopped, it will, once again, take American blood, treasure, and determination.
It may be true that the Islamic extremists who call for world domination represent only a minority of the world’s Muslims. Minority or not, it is they who drive the Muslim agenda and unashamedly slaughter untold thousands of people in the name of their Allah. They claim their authority comes from the Koran – the same Koran – and the same Allah - the rest of the Muslim world worships. Consequently, all Muslims must bear the responsibility for the inhumane actions of the extremist minority.
If the extremists are such a minority of the Muslim population, why does the majority not put a stop to the extremists? There can be only two possible answers: either the majority is in agreement with the goals, if not the tactics, of the extremists, or the majority is incapable of controlling the minority. Both answers are probably correct. When a cartoonist published a caricature of Allah, Muslims around the world filled the streets in protest. Were they all extremists, or just in agreement with the goals of the extremists?
By contrast, the image of Christ is desecrated regularly, and the public response is “ho-hum.”
Muslims routinely preach death to the infidel; the American and Muslim response is “ho-hum.” But when someone points a finger at the atrocities performed by the extremists, the Muslim majority, and the “politically-correct” Americans cry foul.
The powerful film Fitna, produced by Dutch MP Geert Wilders, is a wake-up call for every American. It was posted on the Internet for only a few hours before threats on the life of everyone involved forced its removal from Wilder’s website.
Why can Muslim clerics preach their fire-brand extremism through the public airwaves with no concern about retribution, while factual reporting about their preaching rains down thunderous threats sufficient to quiet the criticism?
The answer is simple: because they can. No one has yet arisen to stop their threats, nor their atrocities. It is apparent that the majority of the Muslim world cannot, or will not stop the minority extremists. It is also apparent that the Europeans cannot, or will not stop the protesting extremists. Once again, if they are to be stopped, American blood, treasure, and determination will have to do it.
The attack on the World Trade Center opened a new era in the Muslim quest to conquer the world. America stood up to engage them, in Afghanistan, and in Iraq. It has taken American blood, treasure, and determination to keep the battle on foreign soil. But the determination is waning. Those who say that the attack would not have occurred had the U.S. not been on Muslin soil forget that the U.S. was there at the behest of the rest of the world to stop Saddam Hussein’s brand of Islamic terrorism.
Americans who fail to recognize that the war is between Islamic extremism and freedom – regardless of whether the bombs explode in Afghanistan, Iraq, Gaza, or Indonesia – have their heads in the sand. Those who think Iraq is simply a civil war between warring factions, are way too near-sighted. Those who say that the Muslims are just reacting to our presence in their country fail to recognize the forces in conflict.
Anyone who believes that Muslim extremists will suddenly disavow their quest to rule the world when American troops leave their soil is naïve in the extreme. Anyone who believes that freedom, as practiced in the United States, can co-exist with the Islam advanced by the extremists is worse than naïve. The Europeans and Americans who are condemning Dutch MP Geert Wilders, for making a film that displays Muslim clerics reciting the Koran, and statements from Muslim extremists, are empowering the extremists. The truth must be told, and told forcefully.
Those who contend that U.S. policy should be to “live and let live” overlook the simple truth that to be successful, this policy must be embraced by all participants. Even a casual review of the Koran reveals that this idea has no place in Islam. Sooner or later, if Muslim extremism is to be stopped, American blood, treasure, and determination will have to stop it. If not now, when? If not there, here!
