An Artful Approach to Revitalization
Big Brother item by Clint Bolick (3/17/08)

Freedom is the key to economic growth - The City of Phoenix decided a vibrant arts district would be a nifty idea to revitalize its downtown core. Too often, cities are tempted to achieve such a goal by taxpayer subsidies, eminent domain, tax hikes, or draconian zoning requirements. Instead, Phoenix decided to try a different approach --deregulation.

Bush’s Big Bank Bailout
Big Brother item by Cliff Kincaid (3/17/08)

Both the Wall Street Journal and conservative economist Lawrence A. Kudlow are defending the Bush Administration’s big-government-socialist bailout of Bear Stearns. The taxpayers are bailing out a big bank while millions of Americans may be losing their homes in the financial meltdown. Where are the conservatives protesting this?

Taking a Toll on the People
Bird-Brain Flu item by Selwyn Duke (3/17/08)

You’re driving north on the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), heading toward the Big Apple. Cruising along, you pass exits 7, then 8, 9, 10 and 11, and everything is fine. Then you come to exit 12, and traffic starts to slow down; soon, it’s a New York bumper-to-bumper nightmare, the worst kind. Creeping along like an inchworm missing a few millimeters, you know that traffic will abate just down the road, just a few miles – and an hour and a half – away.

The Barack Obama Double Standard
Elections item by Doug Patton (3/17/08)

Imagine in 1999, that a videotape had come to light showing the pastor of Texas Gov. George W. Bush’s church making vicious, hateful comments about America and cruel, racist statements about Americans of color.

Chillin’
GreeenIsm item by Geoff Metcalf (3/17/08)

“Hypocrisy is the essence of snobbery, but all snobbery is about the problem of belonging.” --Alexander Theroux

‘Why Is Everyone Lying About Energy?’
GreeenIsm item by Alan Caruba (3/17/08)

In early March, President Bush, addressing an International Renewable Energy Conference, was widely quoted saying that the United States has to “get off oil.” Earlier he had said that America was “addicted” to oil. These are such huge lies one wonders why he is telling them, unless perhaps he has quietly been investing in ethanol production.

Biofuels Forcing World To Ration Food Aid
GreeenIsm item by Dennis T. and Alex A. Avery (3/17/08)

The World Food Program is preparing to ration food aid for the world’s hungriest poor.  Why?  Primarily because we’re burning food in our automobiles.  The rich-country mandates for biofuels have doubled and tripled world food prices in less than three years.
